On the afternoon of the 13th June delegates will get the opportunity to tour one of five leading factories in the North West. Once there, you will enjoy an extensive tour of a facility that demonstrates cutting edge people management, lean process or pioneering new plant in line with our 3Ps conference theme. On the tour, you can quiz operators, managers and peruse the performance boards for new ideas.

Visit the £16m BAE Systems Skills Academy, which is training up factory employees old and young to take advantage of cutting edge manufacturing technologies. The centre opened its doors in December last year and includes a 3D virtual reality cave, which allows engineers to dismantle a Typhoon fighter jet without setting foot on the production line. The technology could transform maintenance and assembly activities in UK manufacturing and delegates will have the chance to experience the technology for themselves on the tour.
The visit will also offer insight on tackling skills challenges through recruiting and training apprentices, plus skilling up your existing workforce.

The Halewood plant and sister sites at Solihull and Castle Bromwich made more than 500,000 cars in 2016. Employee numbers have more than trebled since 2010 as the plant keeps pace with orders for Range Rover Evoque and an all-new Land Rover Discovery family.
On the tour you will see how CI techniques are deployed to harness workforce ideas that improve safety and quality standards. You will also see the impressive £200m investment in plant that has supported the launch of the Land Rover Discovery.
Robinsons has been a fixture in Stockport since 1838, and techniques at the brewery were largely unchanged until a large investment in new machinery a couple of years ago. The company are now at the start of a journey towards lean manufacturing, with the challenge of upskilling a long-serving workforce.
This tour will take in both the brewery, in the heart of the town, where visitors will see how investment in new equipment is helping maintain Robinsons’ standards for excellence, and the nearby packaging centre, where the finished beer is packaged and shipped across the North-West and beyond.
Knowsley is implementing the value based approach to engaging its workforce that’s helped its sister site, Newsprinters Eurocentral in Glasgow, become the first in the UK to win the Shingo Prize- an international benchmark in manufacturing excellence.
